Description

This object is a dim dwarf irregular galaxy located only about 10 million light years away in the constellation of Ursa Major. It spans about half the diameter of our Milky Way. This object was discovered by American astronomer Edwin Coddington in 1898 at the Lick Observatory and originally was classified as a nebula.

Amidst the dim star clouds of this galaxy are a number of bright areas which are believed to reflect intense star producing activity. These areas are not pink in my image which is typical for star formation regions, likely because I did not add Ha subs to this image.
