Description

My first attempt at Mars through a telescope. I've been excited about the upcoming opposition, but really hoping this storm will settle soon.

Recently flocked Orion 8in f4.9 Newtonian Reflector

Celestron CGEM Mount

4x PowerMate for an effective 4000mm at f/19.6.

ASI071mc in ROI mode (320x240)

Intel Compute Stick

Acquisition:

I took a series of 5000 frame shots on the early morning of 2018-06-30 when Mars reached the meridian (~31 degrees altitude)

SharpCap 3.1

Processing steps:

PIPP to combine each video into a single centered frame in Join mode for a total of 50,552 frames

Stacked best 10,000 frames using autostakkert (no sharpening) save as tiff

Load into Registax:

Apply wavelets on all 6 layers to maximum (in Linear mode)

Apply De-Noise/De-Ringing

"Do All" and Save

Load into PixInsight:

Channel Match - To attempt to combat the abberation
