Description

This object is a dwarf galaxy located 15 million light years away in the constellation of Ursa Major. I find the non symmetry of dwarf galaxies to be fascinating. It is hard for me to understand or imagine how they were formed.

This bluish galaxy is almost edge-on to our view. Dark dust lanes wander aimlessly amongst bright blue star clusters, all enveloped in a hazy outer star cloud. No core or central bulge is visible. A tiny background galaxy is visible at the upper end of the dwarf galaxy.

Stephen James O'Meara has labelled this galaxy as the Fabrege Egg and the Frankenstein Galaxy, but I find these names to be neither appealing or appropriate.
