Description

When you're travelling on "vacation" and only have your camera with you; but the skies are so clear and perfect that they're just begging to be taken advantage of, you know you have to find a way to shoot something!

Light polluted skies couldn't stop me from taking nearly 2 hours worth of exposures. I looked up and saw Polaris staring back down at me. I set my camera on the ground, pointed it up trying to frame it somewhat decently and set my remote timer. I got (39) 150-second subs at ISO 400 using my modded Canon T6s (which I filtered back to factory settings) and my 24-105mm lens (at 24mm and f/7.1) before my batteries died.

I was set up literally across the street from a well-travelled railroad track and I'm surprised my camera stayed steady enough thru all the racket to get a nice base photo. The only thing I've done with this photo is manually stack them in GIMP 2.10 RC2. I plan to process it a bit in the future to remove some noise and hot pixels and edit the garage and trees to be a bit clearer. This was taken at my brother's house and we are remodeling the garage hence why the siding is torn off a little. Overall, I think it's a neat little picture considering what I had to work with.
