Description

Takahashi FSQ-106 (non-N) f/5 astrograph refractor

This is the original version of this venerable telescope, which has been used by so many excellent astroimagers around the world. It is a 530mm f/5 quadruplet MC fluorite flat field refractor that I use to obtain color data for my composite mosaic images (composite mosaic images use luminance data from a larger aperture higher resolution telescope, such as my AP RHA, and color data from a lower resolution instrument, such as the FSQ. These data are then combine into one image). Typically, this telescope obtained the color data at the same time the AP RHA was obtaining the luminance data. This allowed me to increase my production rate and obtain more images than I could with just a single telescope, despite Idaho's notoriously cloudy skies. This telescope is located at my home observatory in Idaho.

The other image is of my ASA N12 astrograph and TeleVue 127. I had these before I used the FSQ and Honders.
