Description

Imaged Mars with the one-shot color (OSC) ASI-224MC using both UV/IR-cut and IR-850 pass filters on July 19, 2018. De-rotated and combined RGB and IR images in WinJUPOS (each of these images was in turn the de-rotated combination of 3 images). The end result was an RGB image with improved detail. Comparing the resulting image with the WinJUPOS ephmerides graphic and the Sky&Telescope Mars Profiler, looks like the feature that jumps out in IR is Mare Cimmerium. Plan to continue to try this approach for cutting through the dust storm!
