Description

This object is an asterism located in the constellation of Cygnus. It consists of a remarkable number of colorful and bright double stars arranged roughly in a circle. Many of these are true double stars. This asterism was identified by several people in the 1990s, including Kim Hyatt and Glenn Chaple. A portion of this ring is also known as Chaple's Arc.

The most striking double is shown at 12 o'clock in the image, between the center of the image and the top of the image. This pair is designated as HJ 1470 and includes a bright orange 7th magnitude star.

Note - a "Fairy Ring" is a circular area of grass that is a darker color than the surrounding grass due to the growth of fungi, although some would like to believe that they are caused by dancing fairies.
