On July 8, 1944 the German command decides, in anticipation of a retreat to destroy the ancient watchtower on the hill that precedes the valley of the river Esino and the city of Jesi. The tower, was a medieval outpost marked in the plans of the Italian army as a place of observation and military cartographic exercise. The Germans, aware of the importance of the site, decided to destroy, in vain and causing damage to the Italian historical heritage, the ancient construction for military needs.

Nel giorno 8 di luglio 1944 il comando tedesco decide, in previsione di una ritirata, di distruggere l'antica torre di guardia situata sul colle che precede la vallata del fiume Esino e la città di Jesi. La torre, era un avamposto medievale segnato nelle planimetrie dell'esercito italiano come luogo d'osservazione ed esercitazione militare cartografica. I tedeschi, consci dell'importanza del loco, decidono di distruggere, inutilmente e arrecando danno al patrimonio storico italiano, l'antica costruzione per esigenze militari.
