Description

This object is an open cluster located 1100 light years away in the constellation of Ophiuchus, at a declination of +5 degrees. It is an open cluster of about 50 stars with an apparent size of more than twice that of our full moon. This is believed to be a relatively young cluster, which is why the stars are uniformly bright blue in color. It doesn't look much like the Beehive Cluster (M44) to me, except that it generally consists of bright, widely spaced blue stars against a fairly sparse background.

The framing of my image is a bit too tight to properly set the cluster out from the background sky.
