When I went outside I intended on trying to image NGC 6334 the Cat's Paw Nebula. However

while doing a single star alignment of my mount I could tell that a meridian flip would be required

not long after I began imaging. I've not had much luck with meridian flips so I decided to choose another target. I've been wanting to try NGC 7023 again to see if I can get an image I'm more pleased with. I consider this a difficult object to image and I can always do better on it. As it turned out after I took my 9th light frame Microsoft took over my computer and began doing updates. It took almost two hours to complete the updates and my computer restarted 8 times.

This has happened before and to say it made me mad would be an understatement. I was told by someone to disconnect my laptop from the internet. Well I did disconnect the laptop from the internet and it was disconnected when Microsoft began updating my computer. Obviously they have the capability of reconnecting to the internet. Last night was the first clear Moonless night I've had in I don't know how long. I have a temper and showing restraint is not one of my strong points. I'm surprised my laptop wasn't smashed against my shed. Anyway I did get an image but as usual with this object it is not as good as I had hoped for. There is a lot of dusty nebulosity and dark nebulosity located around this object and I captured and brought out very little of this. Anyway with all of that said please enjoy my most recent image of NGC 7023.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection.
