Description

The objects in this area are found in star dust and gases and are therefore quite difficult to detect.

Moreover the globular cluster NGC 4372 is partially hidden by dust lanes.

The globular cluster NGC 4372 or Caldwell 108 was discovered by the Scottish astronomer James Dunlop on April 30, 1826, during a stay in Australia, and cataloged "Dunlop 67".

Distant from Earth by about 19 000 light years, this cluster of the constellation Musca is located at one end of a molecular cloud called HMSTG 436 or more commonly Dark Doodad Nebula which is itself closer of our system, about 700 light-years away. According to the latest studies in 3D, it seems that this cloud comes to us by the edge and that it is much larger.

The bright adjacent star is HD 107947 at magnitude 6.8.
