Description

NGC 663 is a young open cluster consisting of approximately 400 stars. It lies in the constellation Cassiopeia and is 7900 light years from Earth. NGC 663 has two supergiant stars (to the right of this image) that are reaching the end of its main sequence lifespan. This star cluster forms a part of a stellar association in Cassiopeia that lies in the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way along with other open star clusters notably NGC 654, 659 and M103 along with some scattered supergiant stars.
