Description

Another wide field DSLR image from the Queensland Astrofest (Australia.)

Crux, the Southern Cross, is at top right. To the left of Crux is the dark nebula known as the Coal Sack. Between the two is the Jewel Box cluster.

The pink emission nebula at bottom right is IC2944, the Running Chicken Nebula. The open cluster to its right is NGC 3766.

The constellation at bottom left is Musca which contains the Dark Doodad, the narrow dark nebula next to the globular cluster NGC 4372.
