Description

I made 3 RGB runs of 4minutes per colour channel. The seeing was excellent. Mars is now showing a distinct gibbous phase and is ~ 95% illuminated with an apparent diameter of 21.4 arc seconds. It is interesting to see that the structure in the albedo features corresponds exactly with those evident in Seb Lukas' image of this evening from a few hundred kilometres south of my location. Syrtis Major is prominent as is the Hellas Basin, which shows a darker centre, perhaps indicating that the dust is also dissipating there. Slowly but surely Mars returns to its pre dust storm appearance.
