Description

It had just gotten my scope tracking and focused at just an hour an ten minutes after sunset and decided to full system test on M102, which was near my focus target star. I was rewarded with excellent seeing and transparency conditions almost immediately and so quickly restarted live-stacking at bin 1 (about 0.5 arc seconds per pixel). This image was captured only an hour and a half after sunset, so it wasn't quite fully dark yet. I have adjusted the contrast here to best show detail around the dust lane. The outer halo of M102 doesn't show quite as well anyway in my sky because of light pollution.

I also like the miniature version of M102 that photobombed the bottom corner of the image, galaxy PGC 2508806.
