Description

Seeing was above average here on September 4th, and I gave it another go with the new ADC and the new ASI290MC camera. Note that I always use my luminance filter with the 290MC to keep the unwanted IR and UV from making the images fuzzy and hard to focus.

I'm getting more familiar with the ADC. It really does not take much correction to get a big improvement in the image. I shot both Saturn and Mars on the 4th. Saturn was slightly higher in the sky and so it was not surprising that it required less correction (0.75 divisions on the ADC prism levers -- as compared to Mars which looked best at 1.0 divisions that night ) . ZWO did a good job putting together a user's guide for the ADC. Martin Lewis' papers on the theory and operation of ADC's were also a great reference. FireCapture's ADC tuning feature was very handy also. I may try SharpCap at some point as a comparison.

4,400 mm focal length (as calculated by FireCapture)

2,500 frames (best 50% of 5,000)

Exposure: 47.1 ms

Gain: 235 (39%)

104 alignment points (auto generated)

Thanks for looking!
