Description

This is my second completed image using the ZWO ASI1600 and FSQ106, and it was an unexpected challenge. Prominent microlens reflections appeared on around the 10 brightest stars. I reduced exposure time to 60 seconds per sub but the reflections were still there to be seen when the subs were stacked and stretched. I also had twin diffraction spikes on some subs of some stars.

I did a lot of work in Photoshop to remove the reflections and odd spikes, but of course the resulting stars are not elegant. I would also say that I prefer this object with traditional diffraction spikes!

Do we know definitively what the source of these microlens reflections are with the ZWO? I believe all cameras today have microlenses, so what's difference here?

I sure hope the QHY600M I'm waiting on isn't similarly hobbled.
