Description

This is a 2 panel mosaic of the Lobster Claw (Sharpless 2-157) and Bubble (NGC 7635) nebulae in Cassiopeia. Other catalogued objects in the image include the open cluster NGC 7510 (11,400 light years distant), and the emission nebula NGC 7538 (9,100 light years distant). [Distances obtained from Wikipedia.]

With apologies to Mr S, The ‘trouble’ came in the form of the NB filters labelling within my capture software – Sequence Generator Pro. The SII and OIII filters were labelled incorrectly (as each other). As such, my early efforts to process led to some very strange colours.

Data for this object were captured between 30 August and 11 September 2018, from a remote imaging rig (located in Spain) that is jointly owned and operated by Barry Wilson and me.

Capture details are as follows:

Telescope: Takahashi FSQ 106

Camera: QSI 683 WSG

Filters: Astromomik 6nm

Mount: 10 Micron GM2000HPS

SII: 64 x 900s

Ha: 64 x 900s

OIII: 64 x 900s

A total of 48 hours exposure.

Data Capture: Steve Milne & Barry Wilson

Image Processing: Steve Milne
