Description

Consistently good seeing over the past two evenings allowed me to capture Mars before and after meridian transit. In this view the planet started its descent towards the western horizon.

Elysium Mons caldera is prominent in the north with another terminator projection visible in the south (at 5 to 12). Volcanic peak is free of orographic cloud but there are some wispy features over Mare Chronium north of South Polar Cap.

Characteristic northerly extensions off Mare Cimmerium (Gomer and Laestrigonum) are also on show. North polar region maintains its bluish tinge.
