Description

This image is a tight crop on NGC346 within the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) in the constellation of Tucana. NGC346 is an open cluster with associated nebulosity that is particularly strong in OIII. NGC346 contains HD 5980, the brightest star in the SMC.

This image was processed in PixInsight using a bicolour palette (Red = Ha, Green = OIII, Blue = OIII). The final image was cropped and re-sampled by 120% for aesthetic reasons.
