Description

This is an experimental image of the Deneb area that I produced from shots taken during August and September 2018, typically after I would finish with M31 which was my primary target. I have to go to the top of my building for proper capturing, but Deneb happened to pass the zenith in convenient hours so I was able to take photos from my balcony.

I took 111 pics in total, each only 30 seconds at ISO 800 which was the best I could do given the light pollution.

I have applied Dr. Roger Clark's workflow that puts all the weight on the raw converter (Darktable 2.4 in my case) and algorithmic lens corrections instead of working with linear data and dividing by flats. I still used Pixinsight for the actual averaging and for deconvolving the integrated image, and stretched the resulting image with rnc-color-stretch. Then back to Darktable for finishing touches.

I am not sure the result is correct (mainly I find it difficult to believe that I captured all that color with so little exposure and from a light polluted area) but it sure looks impressive.
