Description

Nobody gives M110 the respect it deserves. Its just that little galaxy next to M31.

Its actually a pretty interesting elliptical, in that it has prominent dust clouds around its core and subtler ones scattered across a good deal of its face. Seeing and transparency were quite good the evening I took this, and with the addition of an IDAS light pollution filter, I really got a clear nearly gradient free view of the sky this night back in July 2018.

My collimation was a little out of whack because of a loose spot in my mirror mount when I captured this image, so I had to resample it down 50% from bin 1x1 to an effective bin 2x2 to hide the effects. This is unfortunate, as seeing was such that the bin 1x1 image would have been great. Oh well. I have since permanently fixed the collimation drift, so hopefully won't get bitten by this again.
