Description

I have resurrected some images I took a couple of years ago, but never finished processing. Taken with equipment I no longer have, but worked well at the time.

This image captures a fascinating series of objects located in the constellation of Cygnus. The objects include many small but beautiful reflection nebulae, emission nebulae, dark nebulae, and star clusters. The entire view spans nearly 30 light-years.

Three bright blue reflection nebulea are the featured objects in the center of this image. NGC 6914, the object namesake, is the most prominent of the reflection nebulae. Located 6000 light years away, it is seen just right of image center. I really like the extent to which this blue nebula is swirled with dark dust lanes. Just left of this nebula, at image center, is van den Bergh 132 (vdB 132). Further to the left is vdB 131, whose blue nebulosity surrounds the open star cluster Dolidze 8.
