Description

Another moment of good seeing from early August when the sky became very stable after midnight while I was live-broadcasting a virtual star party on YouTube. I switched to bin1 and because of the brightness of this nebula set the exposure in each from to only 1/2 second to maximize image sharpness by seeing the FWHM star filter on SharpCap as low as I could.

So, this is actually 67 frames of 0.5 seconds for a total of 33.5 seconds. It took a few minutes to collect this data because of discarded frames that weren't quite as sharp.

Unfortunately, this image was captured before I mostly solved a collimation drift problem that plagued may imaging efforts prior to mid-august when I finally fixed a slight wobble in my mirror mount. Despite this, you can see a lot here. I used a deconvolvution filter to remove some of the smear caused by the collimation, which improved the sharpness a bit.

Besides applying the deconvolution filter, another thing I did to this image which I almost never do is scaled the image up 2x using an intelligent scaling algorithm. The detail in the image is fine enough, that doubling up the pixels in the image to permit seeing the detail easily actually made sense.
