Description

Gamma Cassiopeiae is an eruptive variable star of spectral type Be, also named Tsih or sometimes Navi. It ist the center star of the 5-stars "Cassiopeia-W", and its brightness varies irregularly between +1.6 Mag and +3.4 Mag. It is about 550 LJ away.

In its neighborhood in 3 to 4 LJ distance there are some nebulous structures, IC 63 and IC 59, containing reflective as well as emissive features. The red HII emission features dominate in areas closer to and facing Tsih, while the far sides show a clear blue.
