Description

The Wizard Nebula in Cepheus consists of ionized gas around the open star cluster, NGC 7380. The nebula is considered to be some 7,200 light years away from Earth. The nebula spans some 110 light years.

The Wizard was imaged between 17 September and 7 October 2018 from two remote imaging rigs in Spain that are owned and operated by Barry Wilson and me.

Capture details are as follows:

Telescopes: Takahashi FSQ 106 x2

Camera: QSI 683 WSG x2

Filters: Astrodon & Astronomik 5nm & 6nm NB

Mount: 10 Micron GM1000HPS & 10 Micron GM2000HPS

SII: 20 x 1200s

Ha: 25 x 1200s

OIII: 48 x 1200s

A total of 31 hours exposure.

Description: 1) Managed to get a bit more of the fainter detail out without bloating stars.
2) Bit bolder with colours.
3) Cropped to exclude 'dead' area at bottom of picture.
