Description

This was the second attempt at imaging Orion right after buying my first telescope, after a really bad try with not enough integration time.

That night I managed to image both the Pleiades and Orion with satisfying results.

Looking back I can't believe how lucky I got back then - not only did I pretty much nail the focus without a Bahtinov mask, but I also got little to no star trails despite not having any guiding, not doing drift alignment or even being able to see Polaris.

Color balance is really weird and it's probably due to several factors - the main one is probably lack of experience but a class 7 bortle sky and imaging at ISO 1600-6400 (back then I didn't know that Nikon sensors are "ISO-less") probably didn't help either.
