Diese beiden Reflexionsnebel besitzen die gleiche Entfernung, 610 Lichtjahre, wie der 2.15 mag helle Stern Gamma-Cas. Dieser Blaue Riesenstern mit dem 10fachen Sonnendurchmesser, der 19fachen

Masse der Sonne und der 55000fachen Sonnenleuchtkraft bringt diese beiden Reflexionsnebel zum

leuchten. Der Stern und die Nebel sind nur etwa 3 Lichtjahre voneinander entfernt.

Obwohl ich den Blauen Riesen aus dem Gesichtsfeld genommen habe, hat mir dieser noch extrem

in das Bild geleuchtet. Habe Ihn jetzt mal im Bild gelassen und nicht weg retuschiert

These two reflection nebulae have the same distance, 610 light-years, like the 2.15 mag bright star Gamma-Cas. This blue giant star with 10 times the sun diameter, 19 times

Mass of the sun and 55000 times the sun's luminosity brings these two reflection nebulae to

to shine. The star and the nebula are only about 3 light-years apart.

Although I have taken the Blue Giant out of the field of vision, this has me still extreme

lit up in the picture. I let him now in the picture and not retouched away

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
