Description

Messier 2, also known as NGC7089 is a globular cluster in the constellation of Aquarius. It is one of the largest know globular clusters and was discovered in 1746 by Giovanni Domenico Maraldi. It lies approximately 55000 ly away and is around 174 ly across.

This is the first deep space image that I have taken with my new scope, an AD250 from 656Imaging.co.uk. Unfortunately the image does not do the scope justice as the mount (although doing a very admirable job) was struggling to keep the stars as tight as I would like at that focal length. It was something that I was expecting and prepared for. I was just to impatient to wait for the new mount. I also need to tweak the camera to get the sensor flat to the field. All the usual tweaks that you need when getting such a precise piece of kit running at its best. That said the image is way better than anything I have ever done before at that focal length. So far I'm delighted with the result and the best of part is that I know that it's going to improve a lot more.

Description: Cleaned up the background, tweaked the sharpness on the stars and pushed the curves and saturation a little more.
