Description

DETAILS: Imaged 091804 with the 12.5" Truss RC at f9, using the ST-10XME on an ME Robotic German Equatorial Mount, and guided by an AO-7. Two hours and twenty minutes of Luminance combined with 30 minutes each of RGB. Five iterations of CCDSharp applied to the Luminance, and the RGB frames were combined in Photoshop CS, then layered with the Luminance. Other processing included registration of all frames in RegiStar, MaxIm DL and RC Console, and other processing in Photoshop CS.

COMMENTARY: NGC 7331 is a member of the so-called Deer Lick group of galaxies in the Constellation Pegasus. Other galaxies in the image background are NGCs 7335, 7336, ;7337, and 7340. This galaxy was first observed by William Herschel in 1787. It is approximately 50 million light-years distant, and seen almost edge-on.
