Die Rohdaten wurden bereits im Mai 18 aufgenommen. Habe das Bild aber wieder und wieder bearbeitet bis zum jetzigen Ergebnis.

Wenn auch sicher ein ziemliches Standard-Objekt, dann aber trotzdem die biss dato intensivste bzw. schwierigste Bearbeitung.

Die Herausforderungen waren/sind die teils sehr helle Sterne im Feld insb. HIP106886 als 3-fach System (oberhalb des Rüssels) die bei vielen Streching-Versuchen direkt unansehnlich wurden. Da hatte ich zum Glück noch ein paar 30sek Aufnahmen die ich gemeinsam verarbeitet habe, was dann Besserung brachte.

Und natürlich der bearbeitungstechnische Dauerbrenner H-alpha ansehnlich zu integrieren, war nicht leicht. Ich hoffe das ist gelungen :-)

Daher auch der eigentümliche Bildname. H-Alpha wurde zum Teil der Luminanz als auch 50% zu Rot beigemischt. Richtige L Aufnahmen habe ich bei dem Objekt nicht gemacht, sondern die RGB als künstliche Luminanz ver- und bearbeitet.

Zum Objekt IC 1396 sind recht viele Informationen verfügbar. Die Globule IC1396A, also der eigentliche Elefantenrüssel, ist ein aktives Sternentstehungsgebiet.

Ich habe noch nicht herausgefunden, ob der zuvor genannte helle System (HIP106886 - ca. 14,5 x größer als die Sonne) in Zusammenhang mit dem Elefantenrüssel steht oder "nur" ein Vordergrund-Stern ist. Vielleicht weiß das jemand?

The raw data have been captured back in May 2018 already. Processed the picture over and over again till got it to current result.

Despite IC 1396 is quite a standard object, probably been my most intense and difficult processing so far.

The challenges been / are the quite bright blue stars within the field, especially HIP106886 (3 star system), right above the trunk. On many streching attempts they got bloated / saturated right away. Luckily had some 30 sec exposures which I finally combined making the whole easier.

And of course the evergreen in processing, integration of H-alpha wasn't an easy task.

That's reason of the strange name. Used the Ha partly as luminance as well as mixed it by 50% into the red channel. Real Luminance I didn't capture, have processed the RGBs as a separate synthetic luminance.

For IC 1396 a wide range of information is available. IC1396A the elephant trunk itself is an active star forming region. However I havent found out if the earlier said star system (HIP 106886) is in interacting with the elephant trunk or if its just a foreground star. I'm quite curious about this one. Anybody knows?
