Description

NGC 1316 - Fornax A

An image of Fornax A that lies in the galaxy rich region of Fornax. The image is orientated South-North with the top being South.

Front and centre is the super bright Fornax A galaxy, an elliptical galaxy that has extended lobes extending NE-SW.

The galaxy didn't exhibit much colour in my image but the reddish dust lane is discernible if you zoom in.

Also worth noting is the irregularly shaped galaxy ESO 301-11 in the top right hand corner.
