Thanksgiving Moonrise over Fire Island, Long Island

Technical card

Resolution: 4928x3264

Date:Nov. 22, 2018

Data source: Traveller

Description

Picture of the Fire Island Lighthouse, which was built in 1858.
Fire Island is part of a chain of barrier beach islands off Long Island's southern coast.
It is located in about the center of Long Island, and about a 1.5 hour drive from downtown NYC.
At night the SQM is about 20 and the Milky Way is visible but dim -- not too bad for one of the most light polluted areas on earth.
