Description

The Wizard Nebula in Cepheus is a region of gas and dust surrounding a developing open cluster, NGC 7380. It is nearly 8,000 light years from us and the active star forming region spans about 100 light years.

This is one of the first images I took after modifying my Canon 550D. My backyard is in a Bortle 5 area, only 5 Km from the centre of Luxembourg. To beat the light pollution I stacked 330 2-minute subs taken during 2 nights. Total exposure: 11h

I used no filters, except the stock IR/UV block filter (LPF-1) left on the sensor. I color-balanced using eXcalibrator and tried not to overdo with color saturation, sharpening and noise reduction – aiming for a “natural” look.
