Description

The Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635) in Cassiopeia is created by the ejection of material from a massive young star - SAO 20575 (Mag 8.7), with mass 45 times our Sun – which is the brightest star within the perimeter of the nebula, at 11 o’clock position. This star excites also the nearby molecular cloud causing it to glow.

This was one of the first images I took after modifying my Canon 550D. My backyard is in Bortle 5 area, only 5 Km from the centre of Luxembourg. To beat the light pollution I stacked 405 2-minute subs taken during 3 nights. Total exposure: 13h30

No filters used (except the stock IR/UV block filter left on the sensor). Tricky to set the black point for this image, given that most of the area in the frame is filled with gas glowing in the H-Alpha wavelength.
