Description

This is my second attempt imaging the Andromeda Galaxy (M31). This image combines four hours of images taken over the course of three nights.

M31 imaged with WO GT81 at F4.7 (382 mm focal length) using Flat6A II field flattener/0.8x reducer and Nikon D750. Stacked using DSS for a total integration time of ~4 hours using 120 sec subs at ISO 200. Subtracted darks, bias, and flats. Processed in Pixinsight: Cropped, gradient removal with DBE, Background Neutralization, Color Calibration, SCNR, stretched using Histogram Transformation Tool, Curves Transformation, HDR Multiscale Transform, ACDNR noise reduction, Morphological Transformation to shrink stars.
