Description

NGC 7814 or Caldwell 43 is an edge-on spiral galaxy in Pegasus. It lies about 40 million light years away. It has a distinctive lateral dark lane that looks like a smaller version of the Sombrero Galaxy, M104. Several faint and remote galaxies can be seen in the field.



Date: Sep-Oct 2015, Nov 2018

Location: Blue Mountain Vista Observatories,New Ringgold PA

Optics: Celestron EdgeHD 1100 on Paramount MX

Camera: Sbig STL-11000 for RGB

Optics: Starizona Hyperion f/8 12.5 inch, FL 2540 mm on Paramount ME

Camera: Apogee U8300 for Lum

Guiding: ST-402 on Innovations Foresight On-Axis Guider and STL-11000 Self guiding

Exposure: LRGB: L:93x10 R:25x8.5 min, G:25x6.5 min, B:29x10 min for a total of 26.6 hrs (172 subs at avg of 556 sec)

Processing: Image acquisition using CCD Autopilot. Initial processing was done using Maxim DL with subsequent processing with Photoshop.
