Description

Messier 77 (M77 or NGC 106 is a magnitude 9.6 barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Cetus. It is seen 'face-on' and lies about 47 million light years away. I was able to capture the outer faint glow in this face-on. A number of small background galaxies add some depth and interest to the image.

Guiding: SBIG ST-402 on an On Axis Guider from Innovations Foresight

Exposure: LRGB: L- 11x10 min R-11x8 min, G- 8x6 min, B- 11x10 min, for a total of 6 hours (41 subs at avg 521 sec)

Processing: Image acquisition using CCD Autopilot. Initial processing was done using Maxim DL with subsequent processing with Photoshop.
