Description

The forecast here for the nights of December 15-17, when the comet moves between the Hyades and Pleiades, is pretty poor, so I took this when I could. I used the standard 18-55mm lens that came with the Canon T3i and had it set for around 30mm and at f/5.

The comet, Pleiades and Hyades form a large triangle, with the closed end of the Hyades’ “V” pointing up and right toward the comet. The bright orangish star is Aldebaran – on the upper left tip of the “V”. Down and to the left of it is the small open cluster NGC 1647 and further down and left, another open cluster, NGC 1746.
