Description

M17 - Omega Nebula, H-a and O-III. Notionally, this is a H-O-O palette, with H-a in red and O-III in G and B. However, the oxygen data was kind of weak, so I wound up de-emphasizing it in the processing. The structure of the oxygen data is really similar to the hydrogen data, so I added a little bit of H-a into the G and B channels in proportions to encourage the overlapping regions closer to be closer to white in color. Finally, the image was looking a little wimpy overall, so I did an LRGB combination of the the color (H-a and O-III) data with a deconvolved version of the H-a data.
