Description

The previous image I posted of this galaxy was taken with my Revolution Imager. Thought I would post a new version taken with my ASI294 and processed with Fitswork to better show off the interesting structures within this galaxy. So much star formation in a very irregular galaxy. I wonder whether this has always been an irregular or is a spiral that has been disrupted beyond recognition as a spiral. The faint white outer envelop makes me think the latter option might in fact be the case. It seems too close (only 14mly) to be a newly forming spiral created by a merger of irregulars. That sort of thing seems to be an early universe sort of activity that doesn't happen nearby anymore.

Note on the far left the nice little galaxy pair. The upper ring galaxy is 15.9mag PGC 41113 and the lower edge on spiral is 16.8mag PGC 2233323.

This is actually a stack of two 3 minute live stacks: one of 60 3 second eposures and one of 180 1 second exposures.
