Description

Edward Emerson Barnard is well known for the catalogue of objects generally known as “dark nebula” which are areas of dust obscuring the light from the Milky Way behind. This image presents objects 142 and 143 from the Barrnard Catalogue of dark nebula. In this configuration it is also referred to as the ‘E’ nebula due to its shape.

Whilst this image is comprised of RGB data only, its interesting to note the splash of red on the bottom half of the image. Might be worth a revisit at some stage to see if we can catch some Ha.
