Description

He'd be riding this huge wave of Ha in Puppis!

Meet NGC 2477 (the cluster lower right) and open cluster NGC 2451 (above left).

Not too many images of this region about. Kfir Simon inspired me to visit this region not too far from the Mountain in Puppis that Strongman Mike & I both imaged earlier.

I think this one might need a second panel at the left hand side for composition balance, so will have a crack at getting that tonight.

Moons' full so I need to point a scope in the opposite direction anyway!

Gee but the little SV70t looks a tad overmounted on the new NJP

4 hrs ha, 20mins ea RG&B (yes - needs more data!)

Merry Christmas all

THIS UPDATED IMAGE : As it's been unprecedentedly clear for the past 4-5 nights in Melbourne, I've been able to add two more panels to my previous post.

This now gives this wave of Ha some much needed room to move - it's big too - NGC 2477 contains over 300 stars, and is known as "The Electric Guitar Cluster".

This field is already 2.3 x8 degrees and the wave stretches all the way to the Vela SNR. (Anyone up for a mega mosaic? )

Baked in APP, aligned in Registar & finished off with a touch of PS.

I'm pretty happy with the mix of star colours too, considering it taken under the full moon with the LP at home in suburban Melbourne.

Cheers all

PS: Must learn to automate Meridian flips, these 3am ones are a killer 5 nights in a row!
