Description

Since I shot the frames for this on Thanksgiving, I have dubbed this the"Turkey Moon". This is my first lunar shot with the ASI290MC and my first moon mosaic (used Microsoft ICE - super easy). The sensor on the 290MC is only big enough to get about 80% of the full lunar disk when shooting at 400 mm with my SW Esprit 80 ED.

This is also my first published image with SharpCap. I am not sure if I prefer it to FireCapture for lunar/planetary, but I have been using SharpCap for live video astronomy of DSO's. It works very well for that.

Best 50% of 3000 frames for each of the 2 panels. I did the mosaic after stacking, but did all of the rest of the processing on the stitched mosaic. Used Registax (sharpening) and PI (played with black and grey points on the histogram - got some "pop" - see version B) . Original version is Registax sharpening only.

Exposure = 1.1 ms

Gain = 99

Thanks for looking! Happy holidays and clear skies to all!
