Description

This version of Thor's Helmet (NGC2359, Sharpless 2-298)

has used narrow-band filtering to reveal the hydrogen and oxygen components of this object.

A hydrogen-α filter was used to gather light centred on 658nm on the visible spectrum, and an oxygen-III filter to collect light from surrounding 500.7nm

This bi-colour image was created by combining oxygen and hydrogen data where hydrogen was mapped to red and OIII to green and blue.

Focal length 2121 mm

Camera: mono FLI ML16200 with a Loadstar X2 on an Astrodon MOAG off-axis guider.
