Description

This is my very first attempt at RGB. Needs lots of work, and probably lots more data, but I am reasonably satisfied with it as a maiden voyage. I combined RGB masters with Ha as an Alpha channel using PixelMath in PixInsight.

Target is generally the IREC 231 Dark Nebula in Perseus, but there are several small DNs included...BDN 160-19, LDN 1472, LDN 468; also shown is the star Atik [brightest], and IC 348 [open cluster right by Atik], to name the major ones. I think what would be in order here is simply more data.

I have been advised by many that RGB is tough from LP areas. However I also have come across imagers who have SQM reading very close to what I see at the Beevo Dome, and use this particular set of Astrodon filters with good success, so I decided to give it a whirl. I believe there's potential here. It's my goal for this to open up paths to planetary nebulae, and especially dark nebulae such as the represented in the attached image. These targets will be sought when Luna is on vacation.
