I recently picked up a used full spectrum modified Nikon D5300 DSLR and this is one of my first trial images. I started off with a widefield shot of the Orion constellation since it has a number of bright H-alpha regions to test out the modified camera and is of course a fantastic winter imaging target. So far I am loving the performance of this camera. The H-alpha regions are nicely visible even in individual frames and the results of a modest integration are much better than what I have achieved with my stock DSLRs. I've also been working my way up the Pixinsight learning curve and recently started integrating my subs in PI using the batch pre-processing (BPP) script. I have to say the PI integrations seem vastly improved over what I have been getting out of DSS.

M42 imaged with Nikon 75-150mm Series E zoom lens at 75mm and F/4, Orion Imaging Skyglow Filter, and full-spectrum modified Nikon D5300 mounted to Skywatcher Star Adventurer Mini equatorial mount. Stacked using PI for a total integration time of ~1 hour using 60 sec subs at ISO 1600. Subtracted darks, bias, and flats. Processed in Pixinsight: Cropped, gradient removal with ABE, Background Neutralization, Color Calibration, SCNR, stretched using Histogram Transformation Tool, Curves Transformation, Color Calibration.
