Description

The Pleiades (M45) is an open cluster in Taurus and a jewel box of the Winter sky in the United States.

I went back to the Atik 383L+ for this image, in spite of the lower resolution, to avoid artifacts around the bright stars in the cluster. The little old CCD camera delivered once more.

I imaged the cluster with the Takahashi FSQ106EDX4 with the CR x0.73 reducer (focal length 385mm at f/3.6). The image scale is 2.9 arc-sec/pixel, which is quite undersampled even for the Northeastern USA. I drizzle integrated the color and luminance data and ultimately downsampled back to native sensor resolution.
