Description

M 41 (also known as NGC 2287) is a Open Cluster which is located in constellation Canes Major. It contains about 100 stars and is visible to the naked eye. M 41 is about 2,350 light years from earth. Giovanni Battista Hodierna discovered M 41 before 1654 and Charles Messier discovered this cluster in January 1765.
