Description

This started out as a simple test of a new Star Adventurer, and a mini-pc. The Orion shots were good enough to post. Luck was with me that night.

I used the EOS "Long Exposure Noise Reduction" instead of dark frames as an experiment. LENR doubles the time to collect light frames, but provides a (form of) dark-calibrated image. It was interesting and I can see uses for it in some situations.

The image surprised me with Barnard's Loop, Pickett's Bell (surrounding Betelgeuse) and other nebulae that my modified camera enjoys.

The camera was controlled by a MINIX NEO Z83-4 pc -- very small -- powered by a Tacklife T6. The PC and battery handled the cold January weather fine.

The single frame image inspired me to try a 4-frame mosaic of Orion -- more FOV and higher resolution. But poor weather stifled me until Orion was too low in the sky. My luck evened out.
